Developing a WordPress website is only half the battle, the other half is knowing what plugins to use for certain things. I see a lot of developers adding multiple plugins to do a single job which is just crazy – I get itchy and can’t sleep at night if I know that a website I am working on has anymore than 5 or 6 plugins, the less plugins the better, I say.
Heres a list of the top 5 plugins I recommend to anyone who is working on a WordPress website.
I can’t recommend this enough. GravityForms is an amazing plugins and its not ‘only a contact form plugin’. GravityForms does so much more! I’ve created e-commerce solutions with GravityForms! There is simply no other forms or contact form plugin out there that is better than this.
2, Advanced Custom Fields
I first found ACF the day the initial version was released and instantly knew that this was a plugin like no other. ACF allows you to create all manner of content types for your pages. It allows me to make highly customisable websites that my clients can understand and easily edit themselves.
FakerPress adds dummy content and images to any post type you have running, it’s great for adding content while developing websites, very easy to use and allows for a veriaty of different elements within post or page, helping you remember to style things correctly!
WordFence is an excellent security plugin which helps to keep WordPress safe, it scans files for malicious code and alerts you when bad things have happened!
5, Lockdown WP Admin
The only thing this plugin does is changes the URL to wp-admin login page, you can change it to anything you want, this plugin makes it ridiculously easy to do so – and I recommend doing so!
